Szamotuły is a town situated in the Wielkopolska Lakeland, on both banks of the river Sama in the basin of the lower section of the river Warta, 35 km north-west of Poznań, the capital of the Wielkopolska voivodship [province]. The town lies surrounded with undulating hills that are characteristic for a postglacial landscape. Szamotuły’s location is conducive to the economic development of the town and Commune, and is also an asset as far as tourism is concerned. Our town lies at the junction of important transport routes linking nearby centres: Poznań, Czarnków, Oborniki, Pniewy and Wronki. International routes leading through the A2 motorway and Frankfurt am Oder to Berlin and a railroad from Poznań to Szczecin also pass through Szamotuły. The town of Szamotuły itself has approximately 20 thousand inhabitants, and the entire commune around 28 thousand.

The town occupies the area of 10.11 km2 (commune - 175.1 km2) and is the main economic, administrative, cultural and educational centre of the region, the seat of the Poviat Starosty [self-government authorities of the middle-level administrative district, i.e. poviat], as well as municipal authorities. As our main natural wealth is fertile soils, the region's economy focuses on agricultural production with industry coming second. Precious historic monuments, sports and recreation facilities and plenty of green areas are the tourist attractions of Szamotuły.
All those assets add up to make the town and Commune of Szamotuły an attractive destination for investors, traders and tourists from Poland and abroad.
